As one of the two primary branches of the High Elves, Moon Elves are defined by a cultural obsession with music, dancing, and elaborate night-time rituals. Unlike their Sun Elf counterparts, who frequently involve themselves in the complexities of global trade, war, and world politics, the citizens of Moonthrone are remarkably reclusive and insular. Their society is built entirely around the pursuit of beauty, grace, and the perfection of the arts, existing as a peaceful independent pocket within the Republic of Wood. While the Republic has historically been known for land expansion, it has ceased its advancement into this territory, allowing the elven nation to persist untouched. The landscape of Moonthrone is a striking vertical world, characterized by steep white cliffs and twilight forests filled with large, twisted trees. The flora here is uniquely bioluminescent, featuring soft glowing plant life that illuminates the cliffside dwellings. Housing is integrated directly into the natural environment, with beautifully crafted structures nestled within the cliff faces or perched atop the low, winding trees, all connected by an intricate network of stairs and ladders. The atmosphere is one of eternal twilight, where the Moon Elves utilize specialized potions and salves to heighten their spiritual connection to both the forest and the celestial bodies above. Although they maintain some links to the Feywild, they distance themselves from the "tribalistic" ritualism of wild druids, preferring their own highly organized and perfected social gatherings. At the heart of their spirituality is a profound devotion to the Great Mother Moon, Milith, the progenitor of all elven kind. The populace fawns over Milith’s presence, frequently bathing in her light to absorb what they consider holy energies. Their calendar and great feasts are meticulously planned around the movements of the two daughter moons, Terill and Nastari. This obsession with celestial cycles is matched only by their fascination with death rites; the nation has taken a strange stance on death that borders on obsession. Odd tales spread across Ganath of the High Elf death cults that have formed within Moonthrone, and dark energies have begun to permeate the borders of surrounding nations. The capital city, Tothinil, serves as the seat of the Lunis' Illithin, the head of the nation. This position is currently held by a mysterious figure known only as Ari'Teu, or "The Silver." Under her quiet guidance, Moonthrone maintains almost no interaction with the rest of Gryth, preferring to shelter its citizens from the outside world. As the continent of Ganath shifts and devolves into the chaos of modernisation and war, Moonthrone remains an eternal force; a land seemingly untouched by time, persisting through the great changes of the ages with silent, graceful indifference. ![[Pasted image 20260217214814.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260217214820.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260217214827.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260217214840.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260217214850.png]]
