Situated as a jagged island in the ocean, the surface is a desolate and windswept expanse of grey rock, almost entirely devoid of vegetation. The landscape has been transformed over millennia into a massive stone quarry, where the climate remains mild, but the air is thick with the dust of constant excavation and industry. While the surface offers little in the way of natural life, a few hardy species of magical beasts still roam the dustbowls, adapted to a world of dry stone. The true heart of Greyrock Isle, however, lies beneath the crust. Over the past several thousand years, the Grey Dwarves have carved what is arguably the largest and most intricate network of tunnels in all of Gryth. This subterranean empire is a marvel of engineering, featuring vast vaulted halls, ancient houses of worship etched directly into the bedrock, and bustling trading posts that serve as the economic lifeblood of the island. It is in these lightless depths that the true scale of the Grey Dwarves society can be seen, protected from the relentless winds of the surface. Society on the island is strictly divided among powerful, ancient families, each claiming dominion over specific sectors of the deep tunnels and surface quarries. These great houses maintain their own traditions and ancestral territories, often competing for the finest veins of stone or the most lucrative trade routes. Despite these internal divisions, the Grey Dwarves are united by their craft, recently establishing selective trade agreements with the wood elves of True Sylvaria. True to their heritage, they trade exclusively in their legendary stone, showing a traditionalist's disdain for the metalwork that occupies their mainland cousins, ensuring their subterranean kingdom remains a sanctuary of stone and silence. ![[Pasted image 20260201090135.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260201090144.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260201090152.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260201090158.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260201090205.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260201090218.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260201090226.png]]
