This territory is defined by a vast, arid mountain range that stretches across the entirety of [[Continent - Iros|Iros]] from north to south. The environment is notoriously dangerous and harsh, remaining largely unmapped by foreign explorers, and is populated by a fierce tapestry of resilient peoples. ## Inhabitants The region is home to a remarkably diverse and dangerous population: - **Mountainmen** — Hardy humans adapted to the arid peaks - **Stone Dwarves** — Dwarven clans dwelling in the rock - **Orc tribes** — Orcish war-bands who respect fine weaponry above all else - **Tabaxi** — Agile cat-folk merchants and trackers - Yet even deeper secrets hide within the peaks; rare, secluded tribes of **Fire Genasi** dwell near the thermal vents, and are often blamed for the evaporation of certain wells - **Skull Collectors** — The threat of nomadic, demon-worshipping skull collectors is a constant reality for those who traverse the rocky passes - **Fallen Aasimar** (rumoured) — Celestial-blooded warriors said to hail from **Ingarda**, the outer plane of war and passion. These celestial-blooded warriors bring a fragment of that eternal, violent intensity to the mortal world. ## Mefi'Taran (Capital) The city of Mefi'Taran itself is a tribal town founded on the singular, brutal philosophy of survival at any cost. There is no formal system of law or civil guard to maintain order; instead, security is dictated by the warriors of the bone tribes. Commerce within the city is conducted through a primal exchange of gold, physical goods, or blood. In this society, a person's status is determined by their weaponry; the more intricately decorated and expertly designed a blade or hammer is, the more respect the bearer commands amongst the various clans. This respect for craftsmanship is a unifying trait across the Orcish war-bands and Tabaxi merchants alike, who all understand that a dull blade in Djiris is a death sentence. Due to the parched nature of the surrounding peaks, water is the most precious commodity in Mefi'Taran. The limited number of natural springs and underground waterholes are the most contested sites in the region, with local tribal wars frequently breaking out over their control. The Fire Genasi are often blamed for the evaporation of certain wells, while the often whispered about and seldom seen Aasimar of Ingarda are feared for their ability to seize these vital resources through sheer martial power.
